The Advanced School of Structural Functional Bodywork

Class Description and Calendar for 2010-2011

Level 1 Structural Bodywork Series

The Student will learn to organize the information from their massage training.  They will learn protocols that have over forty years of proven application and results.  They will also learn business building skills; the foundation of a private practice.

Balancing The Girdles Around The Vertical

The Padgen Method of Structural Function Bodywork is a hybrid of Structural Integration, Craniosacral Therapy and Swedish Massage.  Each session lengthens fascia, aligns the muscular skeletal system, decompresses joints, unwinds the cranial membrane (RTM) and related structures, increases circulation of fluids; blood, lymph, and cerebral spinal fluid; invoking balance to the bioelectrical and biodynamic system.

Objective of the balancing sessions; the Students will learn the steps to create a session or a series of sessions that will assist the client out of pain.  The sessions can be used to introduce new clients to the power of Structural Bodywork.  The skills acquired may be applied to "tune-ups", for post Structural Integration.  The information and skills can easily be integrated into a Craniosacral session;  however you choose to apply the education and  skills; the effects will be profound.

It is recommended, but not required that you complete the Structural Bodywork series before moving to the ten- sessions of Structural Integration.

You must complete Structural Bodywork class 1 before moving to class 2, you may do the upper cross class before the lower cross.

#1 Balancing The Lower Cross "The Superficial Layer"

In this three day class the Students will learn and review the muscles of the Femur, Tibia, and the Feet.  The objective of this class will be to balance the myofascial relationship, and bring  horizontal lines to the four joints of movement; hips, knees, ankles, and metatarsal phalanges joints.

Protocols will be introduced for common myofascial pain in the lower cross;  plantar fasciitis, shin splints, knee pain, excessive scar tissue, overuse syndrome, pseudo arthritis, and specific treatments for  post surgical  knee and hip joint repair or replacement.

Business building skills will also be presented.

The Advanced School of Structural Functional Bodywork

Level II Dr. Ida P Rolf's Ten-session of Structural Integration

"The Recipe" is the foundation of a Structural Bodywork practice, once the Student understands and experiences the "Recipe," their work and structure will forever be changed.

Structural Integration is a series of sessions; each session is 1/10th of the system. The Student will learn the ten-session system of Structural Integration also known and the "Recipe."  The Student will give and receive the ten-sessions of Structural integration. The Student will audit and assist their group during the training.

Craniosacral techniques will be introduced and applied when appropriate and relative to the recipe or segment.

Advanced viewing skills: "seeing bodies" active and passive viewing skills.

Coaching the client in pre and post session exercise and re-patterning that support the Structural Integration system.

The Philosophy of "Beingness " healing and healing work comes out of right relationship; listening to the client, being present with what is going on under your hands.

Body mechanics specific to Structural Integration; using gravity as a tool, feeling gravity use you. These tools support longevity, and at the end of the day we are sustained, ready to enjoy the rest of the non-working day.
